The workshop consists of two parts that can be attended separately or together.

Part I — Nomenclature (3 days, 23–25 August)
We will introduce you to the basics of nomenclature using the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICNafp); tailored to fossil workers.

Part II — Neotoma (2 days, 26–27 August)
We will introduce you to the structure of Tilia software and its embedded taxonomy for managing and graphing your own data and using it as an interface to Neotoma Paleoecology Database.

Additional Programme

  • Ice-Breaker (22 Aug 2026): Spend the golden hour on the garden terrace of Poppelsdorf Palace, overlooking the Botanical Garden, and get to know the group.
  • Conference Dinner (25 Aug 2026): Enjoy a lively evening just five minutes from the venue, with good food, cocktails, and an easygoing atmosphere. The dinner serves as both a farewell for Part I and a welcome for Part II, bringing everyone together to connect and exchange, generously hosted by the Collegium Palynologicum Scandinavicum (CPS).
  • Conference Dinner (27 Aug 2026): For those staying until the very end, we will gather at leisure at the Botanical Garden’s Restaurant (Nees), to enjoy a final sunset view together.
  • Activities: Not finalised yet — stay tuned for some guided tours around the Botanical Gardens with our curator.
